Oh it’s so lovely when I hear the words “God will protect me,” most especially when it comes in answer to the question: Will you get the COVID vaccine? I applaud, nay, I support your faith in the invisible hand of your belief that will ensure that you will not get sick. Or if you do get sick that it won’t kill you. And even if it does, that you will be going to a wonderful place with all the joys you didn’t have in life. Because your belief is a thing of beauty, and I celebrate it.
I mean I’m not celebrating it because you might get sick. Or because you might even die. And because if you were to, that means you can’t vote or pass along your utter conviction to your family on how right you were to reject a man-made vaccine (although in all likelihood you did embrace other man-made technologies like cell phones, internet, and air-travel.) Perish the thought.
No I embrace your right to choose your own form of suicide because it leaves more vaccines for those who prefer not just to avoid their own illness but eliminate the chance to infect others. See, now that right there is true selflessness: caring enough about your fellow man and woman not to get THEM sick. I’m pretty sure Jesus would back me on that.
So please, don’t get a vaccine. Don’t pass go. And go straight to hell. At least you should have plenty of good, evangelical company right?
