Let’s plow through all the “ironic/hypocritical” tropes first just to get them out of the way…
TOP FIVE REASONS WHY PRO LIFEERS ARE FUCKING HYPOCRITES
- Because the same people are pro-death penalty
- Because once the baby is born they couldn’t give a fuck about its future
- Because there are historical incidents of pro-choice vigilantes shooting doctors and blowing up clinics (not)
- Because exemption for “saving the mother’s life” needs to be written in
- Because health care coverage for women, including contraceptives which could prevent unwanted pregnancy if a fucking privilege which women need to pay for (unlike say, Viagra)
Ok, now that’s out of the way, let’s move on.
You ever notice how in pro/con abortion rallies the people yelling through megaphones right into the face of another person are always the pro-lifers? Somehow, in the absence of a convincing argument, volume will convince the other person alone. And, of course, if that doesn’t work there’s always #3 above. Because “killing” makes you right.
Oh wait, they’re pro-life aren’t they?
I suppose the cherry on this irony cake is the fact that these are the same people who rant about their privacy, about smaller government, about the evils of politicians reaching into their private lives and taking away decision-making rights.
IS THERE ANYTHING MORE PRIVATE THAN BEING PREGNANT?
um, no?
IS THERE ANY EXAMPLE OF GOVERNMENT OVERREACH THAN TELLING SOMEONE THEY HAVE NO AGENCY OVER THEIR OWN BODY?
“I’m sorry, you’re pregnant now, you can’t go see a doctor or decide on your own future, you’re now a ward of the state. We’re going to chain you here for 9 months. Oh your Dad raped you? Too bad. God wanted it that way. Now you can suffer for the rest of your life by being responsible for the care of your own baby-sibling.”
So here we see on display the unifying political theme of religion and “conservative” mentality: women are inherently evil. They need to be controlled, and they can be by enslaving them to their reproductive organs. Cover you head. Don’t have sex. Be pure.
Oh, and if you don’t? Be dead. Because America doesn’t value you. You’re just another cunt.
